Contract: Fire Remediation Services – Phase B
Contract Period: August 2021 – November 2021
Contract Value: $477,717
Description of Work:
On March 24, 2018 building 576 on PCD was completely consumed by fire. The square footage of the building is approximately 92,000 square feet. This building was constructed in the 1940s and consist of Type IV heavy timber construction with wood exterior walls, flat roofs and a brick fire wall separating the two sides of the building. Initial remediation efforts have been completed by a previous contract, and a tar like substance was discovered adhering to the concrete foundations. It is assumed that this tar like substance is the result of shingles and other building materials melting at high temperature during the fire. CDPHE determined that this substance trapped asbestos fibers as it was cooling and will need additional remediation. In addition, the asphalt surrounding the concrete slab contains low levels of asbestos. In Phase B, Beckrich Construction shall remediate the concrete slab totaling 49,595 CF and asphalt totaling 1,090 CF associated with building 576.
